The road to getting on the road was not a smooth one. After what I thought I was sound planning ahead through research via hours of YouTube videos, podcasts, books and scouring Facebook for groups on specific RV's..... and wanting to keep Thelma Louise (jeep).... I decided to go small and tow an Rpod by Forest River behind me. Placing the order in July thinking I had plenty of time before November for it to come in.... I started planning the trip and what I would need as well as NOT need moving into a much smaller living space with myself, Albert and Dragon. I downsized A LOT and made plans to head to Florida before Thanksgiving. What's that saying? Best laid plans?? The Rpod that was supposed to be in by first of September had not arrived by end of October.... with many empty words of encouragement from the dealer and then the manufacturer that it would "be here soon".
I really loved the thought of that Rpod and was disappointed that it wasn't going to work out but in hind site, I'm better off in the bigger Class C I ended up in ANNNDDD I would never give Forest River a dime due to the dishonesty. The dealership I dealt with did the best they could dealing with FR and even sent a driver to the plant to pick up the pod I ordered and they were lied to about being ready. The driver they sent said there were thousands of FR trailers sitting waiting on parts. Apparently they were experiencing Covid related manufacturing and shipping issues for multiple parts. Of course, this was not relayed to me until November.
With my lease being up on November 30 I was quickly running out of time. Quickly checking what was available I landed with a Thor Chateau Motor Coach. MUCH bigger than the Rpod but the gang approves and everyone ends up having their own space with Albert hanging out in the bedroom most of the time and Dragon has his own space above the cab. I tow the jeep behind the RV and that has worked out well. It's nice to set up and still be able to come and go without having to tear everything down. And I'm happy to still have Thelma.
You are off to an awesome start with your blog & new life! We look forward to future updates as well as get togethers whenever you pop back to FL. Stay safe Deb❣️
